What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the gear selector's directly connected wire, which is stuck in a state that does not match the CAN signal from the transmission control module (TCM). The engine control module (ECM) compares the two signals, and the code is set when the CAN signal shows that starting is allowed while the wire shows the opposite. The fault is checked with the ignition in position II.

- The root cause is in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM) first, as the root cause is there
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 3Try starting and auto-start with the buttons and controls to see whether they are affected
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data whether the direct selector signal and the CAN signal agree as you move the selector
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop investigate the gear selector wiring and the transmission control module (TCM)
