What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the gear selector's directly connected wire signal, which is invalid compared with the CAN signal from the TCM. The ECM compares the two and sets the code when the wire shows that starting is allowed while the CAN signal shows the opposite. The fault is set first in the TCM and then in the ECM, so this code is a knock-on fault.
Possible causes
- The root cause is in the transmission control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM) and remedy them first, as the fault is set there
- 2Erase this fault code only after the root cause in the TCM has been remedied and its fault code erased
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 4Try starting and auto-start with the buttons and controls to see whether they are affected
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the gear position used by the ECM matches the selector position as you move it
