What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the main sensor of neutral position sensor A is too high. The fault may be caused by the signal wire or the connector being shorted to voltage, or by a damaged sensor. The sensor has a redundancy sensor as a backup, and the fault is checked with the ignition on.
Possible causes
- Loose contact or oxidation in the connector
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged neutral position sensor
- Connector shorted to voltage
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 2Check that the connector at the neutral position sensor is firmly seated and free from oxidation and looseness
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with the battery positive and has no break
- 4Try automatic stop-start with the buttons and controls to see whether the function works
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the sensor value changes when the gear lever is moved, instead of staying too high
- 6If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the sensor and the wiring to it
Symptoms you may notice2
- Automatic engine stop-start does not work while driving and at idle
- Starting and auto-start do not work
What the fault can affect1
- The automatic engine stop-start function is switched off
