What does this fault code mean?
The code means that two sensors do not agree, which the engine control module detects by comparing them. Both sensors are directly connected to the engine control module, and the fault is checked while driving. The fault may come from how the clutch is used.
Possible causes
- Many gear changes made without pressing the clutch pedal down far enough
- Long driving with the clutch pedal held down
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connector
- Damaged signal wire
- Damaged clutch pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Check how the clutch pedal is used: many gear changes without pressing it down far enough, or long driving with it held down, can cause the fault
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 3Check that the connectors at the clutch pedal are free from oxidation and contact resistance, and that they are firmly seated
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the sensor has no break and no contact with earth (the body)
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop investigate the clutch pedal sensor
Symptoms you may notice5
- Starting and auto-start do not work
- Automatic engine stop-start does not work, both at idle and while driving
- The car may hesitate, surge or run jerkily while driving, even at constant speed
- A message and a warning symbol are shown in the display
- Cruise control cannot be engaged
What the fault can affect1
- The automatic engine stop-start function is switched off
