What does this fault code mean?
The clutch pedal position sensor gives a signal that lies above the permitted value. The signal is sent from the central electronic module (CEM) to the engine control module over CAN, which checks that it is reasonable, including against the pedal switch. The code is set during driving when the signal is too high for too long.
Possible causes
- Damaged clutch pedal position sensor
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- The root cause is in the central electronic module (CEM)
- Contact resistance, oxidation or loose contact in the connector
- Damaged clutch pedal sensor
What you can do
- 1Read the engine control module fault codes. If any of ECM-U012088, ECM-U000188, ECM-U1A1400, ECM-U000108 or ECM-U000100 is stored, investigate it first
- 2Read the fault codes in the CEM. The code points to the CEM, so investigate it first if it has stored a fault
- 3Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the sensor has no contact with positive or with the supply voltage
- 5Check that the connectors at the clutch pedal are firmly seated and free from oxidation and contact resistance
- 6If you have a diagnostic tool, check in live data that the sensor value follows the pedal movement and does not stay too high when the pedal is released
Symptoms you may notice4
- Starting and auto-start do not work
- Automatic engine stop-start does not work, both at idle and while driving
- The car may hesitate, surge or run jerkily while driving, even at constant speed
- Cruise control cannot be engaged
What the fault can affect2
- The brake pedal must be depressed for auto-start
- The automatic engine stop-start function is switched off
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
