What does this fault code mean?

The code concerns the status circuit of the DC/DC converter, the internal voltage converter that, among other things, supplies the piezo injectors. The engine control module sets the code when the voltage is too low, and the fault is checked with the engine running.

    Possible causes

    • Battery voltage too low
    • Fault in the charging system
    • Damaged system relay
    • Damaged engine control module

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the battery is in good condition and that the charging system works
    2. 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
    3. 3Read off the fault code, erase it and restart the engine to see whether it returns
    4. 4Check that the system relay is not damaged and that its connections are firmly seated
    5. 5Have a workshop investigate the voltage converter and the engine control module. Do not work on them yourself

    Symptoms you may notice4

    • The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
    • The engine does not start, or the starter drags it round without it starting
    • The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly, either always or on some occasions
    • The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly when cold or after use

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
