What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the engine speed does not rise sufficiently after the starter motor has been activated, and the start attempt lasts too long. It never appears on its own and is a knock-on fault from other fault codes, so it does not need to be remedied separately.
Possible causes
- Leak in the fuel system
- Clogged fuel filter
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel
- Uneven compression
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor
- Damaged injection valve
What you can do
- 1Read off the other fault codes, especially those for the fuel system, and investigate them first
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 3Check that there is no visible fuel leak under the car or at the fuel lines
- 4Check that the fuel is the correct grade and that there are no signs of contaminated fuel, for example after refuelling
- 5If the fuel system codes give no answer, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure fuel pressure and injection
