Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic: the intake air temperature sensor has dropped its signal several times during the same drive, and it need not be present at this moment. The code is set when the number of signal dropouts during one and the same drive becomes too large.
Possible causes
- Break in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to earth
- Signal wire shorted to voltage
- Damaged intake air temperature sensor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 2Check that the connector at the intake air temperature sensor is firmly seated and free from looseness, contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the sensor has no break and is not shorted to earth or to the battery positive
- 4Erase the fault code and take the car for a test drive to see whether it returns
- 5The sensor is combined with the pressure sensor in the intake pipe, so have a workshop assess both if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
