Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The fault is intermittent, meaning it is sporadic: the signal from the engine coolant temperature sensor has dropped out several times during the same drive, and the fault need not be present at this moment. The code is set when the number of dropouts during one and the same drive becomes too large.
Possible causes
- Loose contact, contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are shown in the instruction manual or on the fuse list
- 2Check that the connector at the engine coolant temperature sensor is firmly seated and free from oxidation and contact resistance
- 3Erase the fault code and take the car for a test drive to see whether it returns
- 4If the connector is not the cause, have a workshop assess whether the engine coolant temperature sensor needs replacing
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
