What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the intake air temperature after the EGR supply. The code is stored when the temperature has stayed still within a limited range during the driving cycle. This means the sensor signal is not changing as it should.
Possible causes
- Intake air temperature sensor is damaged
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it, then road test with varying speed and throttle to see whether it returns
- 2Look at the connector on the sensor in the inlet manifold: is it loose or corroded?
- 3Inspect the sensor signal wire for chafing, pinching or breaks
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the intake air temperature in live data and see whether the value changes when the air flow varies, for example during throttle changes
- 5If the wiring and connector are fine: have a workshop check the sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The control module calculates a value instead of using the sensor signal
