What does this fault code mean?

The ECM has logged an internal fault when comparing the signals from the narrow-range throttle position sensor. The fault may be caused by a poorly charged battery or corroded cables, but a damaged control module is also possible. If the fault is persistent, the engine control module needs replacing.

    Possible causes

    • Poorly charged battery
    • Corroded connection cables
    • Damaged engine control module (ECM)

    What you can do

    1. 1Look at the battery terminals and cables for corrosion, and check that they are firmly seated
    2. 2Read and note the code, clear it and drive the car to see whether it returns
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the diagnostic and fault status of the code and see whether it shows Malfunction found or No malfunction found
    4. 4If the fault remains after these checks: have a workshop check and, if needed, replace the engine control module

    Symptoms you may notice3

    • Rough idling
    • Message in the information display
    • Warning symbol and text message in the display

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
