Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) detects that the front oxygen sensor (bank 1) shows an incorrect lean or rich mixture. As a result the fuel adaptations are misleading, and the adaptive lambda control has reached its limit.
Possible causes
- Air leak in the intake pipe
- Damaged injectors, or injectors of the wrong type
- Damaged front oxygen sensor (bank 1)
What you can do
- 1Look for air leaks in the intake pipe, for example at hoses and clamps
- 2Check the injectors for visible damage and leaks
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fuel adaptation values in live data and see whether they sit at one of their extremes
- 4If none of the above finds the problem: try a new front oxygen sensor (bank 1), or have a workshop fit one
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator (MIL) lamp is lit
