ECM-P115700 - Lack Of HO2S22 Switches - Sensor Indicates Lean. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–), XC70 (2008–), XC90 (2003–)
Show models by year and engine (7)
What does this fault code mean?
The ECM follows the voltage from the rear oxygen sensor on bank 2, the cylinder row at the rear nearest the passenger compartment, which has cylinders 2, 4, 6 and 8. The code is set when the sensor wrongly reads lean, or when the voltage falls outside the range the ECM accepts.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Break in the signal wire
- Damaged rear oxygen sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status after the engine has idled for a while. Malfunction found means the fault is present now
- 2Do not use rust solvent spray or grease in the oxygen sensor connector
- 3Check the connector of the rear oxygen sensor on bank 2 for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Inspect the signal wire for chafing, and use a multimeter to check that it is not broken or touching ground
- 5If the fault remains after these checks: have a workshop replace the rear oxygen sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator (MIL) lamp is lit
What the fault can affect1
- Control of the rear oxygen sensor on bank 2 is switched off
