What does this fault code mean?
The code is set during the workshop quick test of lambda control, when the fuel-air mixture varies considerably for a certain time. The test is used to find air leaks or low fuel pressure, among other things. An unstable mixture may mean there is a fault that could cause lambda control codes during normal driving.
Possible causes
- Damaged oxygen sensor (HO2S)
- Air leak in the intake system
- Air leak in the exhaust system
- Damaged mass airflow meter
- Incorrectly calculated ethanol content
What you can do
- 1Look for air leaks in both the intake and the exhaust system, for example at hoses and joints
- 2Inspect the mass airflow meter for damage and check that its connector is firmly seated
- 3If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the oxygen sensor and the ethanol calculation
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
