What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal to the injectors. The code is set when the signal to an injector is incorrect, which happens because the signal wire is shorted to supply voltage. The fault applies to the cylinder the code points to.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Note which cylinder the fourth digit of the code refers to, so you check the right wire
- 2With the engine control module connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to the injector has no contact with battery positive
- 3Inspect the wire for chafing and pinching where it may have touched a live source
- 4Check the injector for damage and the connectors for oxidation
- 5If you find no fault: have a workshop check the injectors
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine does not start, either occasionally or all the time
- Poor performance and lack of power while driving
- The engine stalls on start
- A clicking sound, or no sound at all, when starting is attempted
What the fault can affect1
- Injection stops
