What does this fault code mean?

The cylinder 3 injector circuit has a short, which the engine control module (ECM) detects while monitoring the injection system and its parts with the engine running. The short may be in the supply, ground or signal wiring, or inside the injector.

Supply wire shorted to ground
Supply wire shorted to voltage
Ground wire shorted to voltage
Signal wire shorted to ground
Signal wire shorted to voltage
Internal short circuit in the injector

What you can do

1Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
2Use a multimeter to check that the wires to cylinder 3 are not shorted to ground or voltage, with the engine control module connector disconnected
3Inspect the wiring to cylinder 3 for chafing, pinching and loose clips
4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the injector for cylinder 3 and check that it operates
5If you find no fault in the wiring: have a workshop check the injector
