What does this fault code mean?
The fault applies to cylinder 4. The code is set when the signal to the injector is incorrect, because the signal wire is shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Short circuit between the signal wires
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Note that the code applies to cylinder 4 and check the wire to that injector in particular
- 2With the ignition on and the engine control module connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to cylinder 4 is not shorted to ground
- 3Look at the signal wires for chafing, and see whether they have touched each other
- 4Check the injector for cylinder 4 for damage
- 5If you find no fault: have a workshop check the injector

- The engine does not start, either occasionally or all the time
- The engine stalls on start
- A clicking sound, or no sound at all, when starting is attempted
