What does this fault code mean?
The code for cylinder 4 is set when the signal to the injector is incorrect. The cause is a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, although a damaged injector can also be the reason.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With the engine control module connector disconnected, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to cylinder 4 has no contact with battery positive
- 3Check the wire to cylinder 4 for chafing and pinching
- 4Look at the injector for cylinder 4 for damage
- 5If you find no fault: have a workshop check the injector
Symptoms you may notice2
- The engine does not start, or only gives a clicking sound when starting is attempted
- Poor performance and lack of power while driving
What the fault can affect1
- Injection stops
