What does this fault code mean?
The code for cylinder 5 is set when the signal to the injector is faulty. The cause may be a break in the signal wire or damaged injectors, and the fault applies to the cylinder the code points to.
Possible causes
- Open circuit on the signal wire
- Damaged injectors
What you can do
- 1Read the code and note that it applies to cylinder 5
- 2Look at the signal wire to cylinder 5 for breaks, loose connections and damage
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire to cylinder 5 is intact, with the engine control module connector disconnected
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the injector for cylinder 5 and check that it responds
- 5If you find no fault: have a workshop check the injector
