What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the throttle deviates from the throttle angle requested by the engine control module (ECM), and the requested position cannot be reached. It is a mechanical fault, where the throttle may be blocked or damaged.
Possible causes
- The throttle is sticking or blocked, for example by dirt or ice
- Damaged electronic throttle unit
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 2With the engine idling, read the throttle position and reference value in live data if you have a diagnostic tool, and see whether they follow each other
- 3Look for dirt, ice or any object that could block the throttle, and clean the throttle unit carefully if needed
- 4If you find no fault: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the throttle unit

- Hesitation, surging or jerky running during acceleration, deceleration and at steady speed
