What does this fault code mean?
The code is set when the engine control module (ECM) finds an electrical fault in the internal circuit that controls the fuel flow and fuel pressure control valves. Here the fault is a short circuit to ground in that circuit.
Possible causes
- Open circuit or short circuit to supply voltage
- Open circuit or short circuit on the ground wire
- Fuel pressure control valve is damaged
- Fuel flow control valve is damaged
- The code may be caused by a damaged fuse
- The engine control module (ECM) itself is faulty
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact, since a damaged fuse can cause this code
- 2Clear the code and road test to see whether it returns
- 3Check the connectors to the fuel pressure control valve and the fuel flow control valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Look at the wires to the valves for breaks and chafing
- 5If you find no fault: have a workshop check the valves, the circuit and the engine control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Unusual noise while driving, either occasionally or all the time
- Uneven idle
- The engine stalls at idle, either occasionally or all the time
- The engine stalls at steady speed
