What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has no code for the immobilizer or has an internal fault. Before the engine starts, the immobilizer code in the ECM is compared with the one in the central electronic module (CEM). The code is set when the ECM is not programmed or when an internal fault is detected in the module.
Possible causes
- The ECM has not been programmed and holds no immobilizer code
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check that the connectors to the engine control module are secure and free from corrosion.
- 3Have a workshop program the engine control module (ECM), as this requires special equipment.
- 4If the engine control module is damaged it must be replaced, which is also a workshop job.
- 5After the work: switch the ignition off, reconnect the connectors and components, start the engine and read the code again.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine does not start and does not turn over
