What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) calculates a checksum of its software and sends it to the central electronic module (CEM), which compares it with the value stored at the last software download. The code is set when the two do not match. The cause is a failed or incomplete software download to the control module. The code gives no noticeable symptoms.
Possible causes
- Failed or incomplete software download to the control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code before anything else is done, so the workshop knows which code was set.
- 2Have a workshop reload the software in the engine control module (ECM). This needs diagnostic equipment, so it is not something you can do yourself.
- 3Read the code again after the reload to check that it does not return.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
