What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to cylinder 2. The engine control module (ECM) drives the injectors through two integrated high-power output stages, and the code is set when the module detects a faulty signal while the engine is running. The code gives no further fault type. It can be a knock-on fault from a fault found by another trouble code test for the injectors or fuel system, in which case that other code is worked on first.
Possible causes
- Knock-on fault from a fault detected by another trouble code test for the injectors and/or fuel system
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Look through the stored codes for others linked to the injectors or fuel system and deal with those first, since the cylinder 2 code may be a knock-on from them.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the injector for cylinder 2 and listen for a click, then compare with the other cylinders.
- 4Check that the connector to the cylinder 2 injector is secure and free from corrosion.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 2 injector, as it may be damaged.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
What the fault can affect2
- Engine output and speed may be limited
- Soot particles are not burned off as normal
