What does this fault code mean?
Although the code is described as a short between the high and low side, it applies to the current signal to the cylinder 2 injector, which is too low compared with what is requested. The engine control module detects the fault while the engine is running. The cause can be contact resistance or oxidation in the connections, or a damaged engine control module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connections to the injector
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Inspect the connector to the cylinder 2 injector: it should be secure and free from oxide and corrosion.
- 3Have a workshop measure the internal resistance of the injector with diagnostic equipment, to rule out a damaged cylinder 2 injector.
- 4If the injector and connectors are fault-free, the engine control module (ECM) should be checked. A workshop then replaces it.
- 5After the repair, clear the code and run the engine to see whether it returns.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The engine does not start
- The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
