What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) compares the fuel pressure on the high pressure side of the fuel system with the largest permitted deviation above the correct pressure. The correct pressure depends on engine load and speed. The check is only made with the engine running, and the code is set when the deviation is greater than permitted. It gives no further fault type.
Possible causes
- The fuel flow control valve is damaged
- The fuel pressure control valve is damaged
- Air in the fuel system
- Too high back pressure on the return side of the fuel system
What you can do
- 1Check the fuel level in the tank and top up if it is low.
- 2Look for leaks in the fuel system, such as wet spots or a smell of fuel at pipes and connections under the car.
- 3Deal with any fault codes for the fuel pump first.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, compare the measured and requested fuel pressure in live data at idle and at light throttle. The values should be close to each other.
- 5Have a workshop check the control valves, injector leakage, the fuel filter and the fuel pressure sensor wiring, as this needs measurements.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Unusual noise while driving
