What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the injector for cylinder 1. The engine control module sets it when the signal in the injector circuit is too high, which can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to supply voltage. A damaged injector can also be the cause. The check is made with the ignition on and the engine running.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connector to the cylinder 1 injector. It should be secure and free from corrosion.
- 3Look for chafing, or places where the wire to the cylinder 1 injector may have touched another live wire.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the cylinder 1 injector and listen for a click.
- 5If the wire is undamaged, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 1 injector.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- Unusual noise while driving
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
