What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the injector for cylinder 4. The engine control module sets it when the signal in the circuit is too low. This can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to earth or by a damaged injector. The check is made with the ignition on and the engine running.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to earth
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connector to the cylinder 4 injector and make sure it is not loose or corroded.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wire to the cylinder 4 injector has no contact with earth (the body), with the ignition off.
- 4With a diagnostic tool you can activate the cylinder 4 injector and listen for a click.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 4 injector.

- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- Unusual noise while driving
