What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the injector for cylinder 4 and is set when the engine control module detects that the signal in the circuit is too high. The cause can be the signal wire being shorted to supply voltage, or a damaged injector. The check on the supply side is made with the ignition on and the engine running.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Look for chafed wires and pinch damage on the wire to the cylinder 4 injector.
- 3Have a workshop check whether the wire to the cylinder 4 injector has contact with voltage, as this requires a measurement with the ignition on.
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 4 injector and the wire to it.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- Unusual noise while driving
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
