What does this fault code mean?
This code applies to the injector for cylinder 3 and is set when the signal in the circuit is too high. It can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to supply voltage, or by a damaged injector. The fault is checked on the supply side with the ignition on and the engine running.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connector to the cylinder 3 injector and make sure it has no corrosion and is not loose.
- 3Look for chafed wires, or wires that may have touched another live wire, especially near the cylinder 3 injector.
- 4Have a workshop check whether the signal wire has contact with voltage, as this needs a measurement with the ignition on.
- 5If the wire is undamaged, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cylinder 3 injector.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- Unusual noise while driving
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
