What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module detects the fault when the signal to the cylinder 2 injector becomes too high. This can be a signal wire shorted to supply voltage, or a damaged injector. The check is made on the supply side, and the engine needs to be running.
Possible causes
- The signal wire is short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Look for chafed wires and pinch damage on the wire to the cylinder 2 injector.
- 3Have a workshop check whether the wire to the cylinder 2 injector has contact with voltage, as this requires a measurement with the ignition on.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the cylinder 2 injector and see whether it clicks.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop check the cylinder 2 injector and the wire to it.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- Unusual noise while driving
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
