What does this fault code mean?
This code covers several faults on the injectors in bank 1. The engine control module supplies the injectors through two high-power output stages and sets the code when it detects a faulty signal. It gives no further fault type. It can be caused by loose or oxidized connections, an open circuit in the signal wire, or a damaged injector.
Possible causes
- Loose connections
- Contact resistance and oxidation in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire (plus)
- Open circuit in the signal wire (minus)
- Damaged injector
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connectors to the injectors in bank 1. They should be secure and free from oxide and corrosion.
- 3Look for broken or chafed wires to the injectors in bank 1, since an open circuit in the signal wire can cause the fault.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the injectors one at a time and listen for each valve to click.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the injectors in bank 1 and their wiring.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine (malfunction) lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- Text message and warning symbol in the display
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
What the fault can affect2
- Engine output and speed may be limited
- Soot particles are not burned off as normal
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
