What does this fault code mean?
The ECM watches the signal to the injectors in bank 1 and sets the code when the signal is too low. The cause can be a short to earth in the wiring to the injectors, a poor connection, or a short to earth inside the module.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Short to earth in the wiring to the injectors
- Short to earth inside the engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connectors to the injectors in bank 1 and deal with any that are loose or corroded.
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the wiring to the injectors in bank 1 has no contact with earth (the body). Make the measurement with the ignition off.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the injectors in bank 1 and listen for a click from each one.
- 5If the fault returns, or nothing is found in the wiring, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the injectors and the control module.
Symptoms you may notice4
- The engine does not start, but the starter motor turns
- The engine does not turn over, with or without a clicking sound at a start attempt
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine stalls
What the fault can affect1
- Injection stops
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
