What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) controls some components through an output stage. The code is set when the communication with the output stage for the injectors is faulty. The cause is a damaged engine control module. The fault may light the engine warning lamp but no clear driving symptom.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors to the engine control module are secure and clean.
- 2Have a workshop read the code and check the wiring.
- 3If the control module has registered an internal fault, it is remedied by replacing the engine control module, which a workshop does.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The engine does not start, and when the fault shows is unclear
- The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
