What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) controls the injectors through an output stage. The code is set when the communication with the output stage for the injectors is faulty, and the cause is a damaged engine control module. The code indicates unexpected behaviour in the injection control and does not say which injector is concerned.
Possible causes
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact and that the connectors to the engine control module are secure and clean.
- 2Check the wiring to the engine control module. If it is intact, carry on to the next step.
- 3If the fault remains, have a workshop read the code and replace the engine control module, as it has registered an internal fault.
Symptoms you may notice3
- The Check engine lamp comes on or behaves abnormally
- The engine does not start, and when the fault shows is unclear
- The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly
