What does this fault code mean?
The ECM drives the turbo control motor with a pulse-width modulated (PWM) signal. The code is set when the module sees a fault in the boost-control signal. It can be caused by poor contact or oxidation in the connectors, an open circuit in the signal wire, or a damaged turbo control motor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged turbo control motor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses for the engine control are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connectors to the turbo control motor. They should be secure and free from corrosion.
- 3Look for chafed or pinched wires to the turbo control motor.
- 4With a diagnostic tool you can activate the turbo control motor and check that it responds.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the signal wire and check the turbo control motor.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
