What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module (ECM) compares the measured boost pressure with its target value. If the measured boost pressure is lower than the target, the module treats it as a fault and sets the code. The fault is checked when engine speed and load are above a certain level. The causes lie in the turbo control valve, the hoses, the wastegate pressure servo, the boost pressure sensor or the wastegate valve itself.

    Possible causes

    • Damaged turbocharger control valve
    • Damaged outside temperature sensor
    • Boost control hoses that are loose, blocked or damaged, both to the wastegate servo and to the charge air pipe
    • Wastegate servo incorrectly adjusted or damaged
    • Sticking wastegate valve
    • Damaged boost pressure sensor (TMAP)

    What you can do

    1. 1Check the hose between the wastegate pressure servo and the turbo control valve. It should be correctly fitted and undamaged and not blocked.
    2. 2Check the hose between the charge air pipe and the turbo control valve in the same way: correctly fitted, undamaged and not blocked.
    3. 3If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the turbo control valve and listen for it to click.
    4. 4Have a workshop check the setting and operation of the wastegate valve pressure servo.
    5. 5Have a workshop check that the wastegate valve is not sticking and that the boost pressure sensor works.

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • Poor performance, the car lacks power
