What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) monitors its internal functions, including the current measurement used to regulate the supercharger clutch. The code is set when the difference between the measured current and the modelled value is too large for a certain time. It can come up together with other codes, and then it is a knock-on fault.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire for PWM control of the supercharger clutch
- Signal wire for PWM control of the supercharger clutch shorted to earth
- Signal wire for PWM control of the supercharger clutch shorted to supply voltage
- Internal fault inside the ECM
What you can do
- 1This code may be a knock-on fault. Deal with any other fault codes first.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 3Look for chafed or pinched wiring in the supercharger clutch control, where the signal wire may have broken or shorted.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the supercharger clutch and check that it responds.
- 5If the fault returns, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the signal wire against earth and supply voltage and check the control module.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- Control of the supercharger clutch uses a modelled current value instead of a measured one
