What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the compressor clutch. The engine control module monitors when the compressor clutches in and out, and sets the code when engagement fails, that is when the compressor does not engage after a request at low engine speed. The cause can be a contact problem, a damaged compressor clutch, or a knock-on fault from another electrical fault.
Possible causes
- Contact problem at the compressor clutch
- Knock-on fault from another electrical fault
- Damaged compressor clutch
What you can do
- 1If there is another electrical fault code, deal with it first, because this code may then be a knock-on fault.
- 2Check that the fuses are intact. The locations are in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 3Check the connector to the compressor clutch. It should be secure and free from corrosion.
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, you can activate the compressor clutch and see whether it engages.
- 5If the connector and fuses are in order, have a workshop check the compressor clutch, which may be damaged.
Symptoms you may notice4
- Poor performance, the car lacks power, especially when pulling away from a standstill
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly, at unclear times
- The engine hesitates, surges or runs unevenly during acceleration, deceleration or at steady speed
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
