What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns fuel pressure on the high-pressure side when it is lower than desired. The engine control module checks the deviation with the engine running, and the correct pressure depends on engine load and speed. The causes lie in the fuel system: fuel starvation on the low-pressure side, leaks, a blocked filter, air, or damaged control valves.
Possible causes
- Waxing of diesel at low fuel temperatures
- Internal or external fuel leak on the high-pressure side
- Poor fuel supply on the low-pressure side
- Blocked fuel filter
- Damaged fuel flow control valve or fuel pressure control valve
- Air in the fuel system
What you can do
- 1Check how much fuel is in the tank. If it is low, top up.
- 2Deal with any fault codes for the fuel pump first.
- 3Check that the fuel system is not leaking and that the fuel filter is not blocked.
- 4With a diagnostic tool, follow the fuel pressure in live data at idle and see whether it deviates from the requested value.
- 5Have a workshop check the control valves, the tightness of the injector valves and the pressure sensor connectors and wiring, using measurements.
