What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the earthing of the glow control module, which should be earthed both through the control module chassis and through a separate earth point. The engine control module (ECM) sets the code when it detects a fault in this earthing. The causes can be a damaged fuse, poor contact or oxidation in the connector, or an open circuit in the signal wire.
Possible causes
- Damaged fuse
- Contact resistance or oxidation in the connector
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Damaged glow plug relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuse for the glow control module is in place and intact.
- 2Look at the two earths of the glow control module and check that they are tight and not corroded.
- 3Check the connector to the glow control module so that it is secure and clean.
- 4Look for broken or chafed wires in the signal wire.
- 5Have a workshop check the glow plug relay, since a damaged relay can cause the same fault.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is hard to start and cranks slowly, especially on a cold start
What the fault can affect1
- Glow plug operation is limited
