What does this fault code mean?
This code concerns the same position sensor for the turbo guide vanes, but here it is the learned limit for the open position that is outside what is permitted. The engine control module (ECM) checks the limits with the engine running. The code can be a knock-on fault from another turbo fault, in which case that other code is worked on first. The cause can also be a damaged turbocharger.
Possible causes
- Knock-on fault from a fault detected by another trouble code test for the turbo and/or turbo control
- Troubleshoot according to another trouble code
- Damaged turbocharger
What you can do
- 1Read all the codes in the car and deal with the other turbo faults first. This code may be a result of them.
- 2Check that the connectors to the position sensor at the turbo are secure and free from oxide.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the position sensor value in live data with the engine running and see whether it changes when the turbo is controlled.
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check that the turbocharger is undamaged and that the turbo control valve works.
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor performance, the car lacks power
