What does this fault code mean?
The wide open throttle A/C cut-out disconnects the air conditioning when the accelerator pedal is fully open. The engine control module (ECM) monitors the signal from the A/C relay and sets the code when the signal is incorrect.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- The signal wire is shorted to ground
- The signal wire is shorted to voltage
- Damaged engine control module (ECM)
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connectors at the A/C relay and at the engine control module for looseness, contact resistance and corrosion.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the A/C relay has no open circuit and no contact with ground (the body) or voltage.
- 4Test drive the car and read the code again. If it does not return after the test drive, the fault has most likely gone.
