ECM-P146300 - A/C Pressure Sensor Insufficient Pressure Change. General Failure Information. No sub type information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), V70 (2008–)
What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) calculates how much the pressure on the high-pressure side of the A/C system should rise when the compressor starts, and compares it with the actual pressure from the A/C pressure sensor. The code is set if the pressure does not rise as expected. This may be due to a leak in the system, or to a fault in the sensor, the compressor, or their supply and wiring.
Possible causes
- Leak in the A/C system
- Damaged A/C pressure sensor
- Damaged A/C compressor
- Open circuit in the supply voltage to the sensor
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the ground wire
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check whether the air conditioning is cooling less well than usual. This may point to a leak in the system.
- 3Check that the A/C compressor engages when the air conditioning is switched on. Listen for it starting.
- 4With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wires to the A/C pressure sensor have no break.
- 5If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pressure from the A/C pressure sensor when the compressor starts and check whether it rises.
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the A/C system for leaks and the compressor.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The air conditioning does not work
