What does this fault code mean?
Pressure in the A/C system is watched by the engine control module (ECM). The code is set when the pressure does not rise as expected when the compressor starts, and the signal from the pressure sensor stays low. It can be checked when the A/C function is switched on and shows that the pressure is not rising.
Possible causes
- Leak in the A/C system
- Damaged pressure sensor
- Damaged A/C compressor
What you can do
- 1Check that the fuses are intact. Their location is in the owner's manual or on the fuse box cover.
- 2Check the connector at the A/C pressure sensor for looseness, contact resistance and corrosion.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the signal wire from the A/C pressure sensor has no contact with ground (the body).
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, read the pressure from the A/C pressure sensor with the A/C on, and check whether the value stays low when the compressor runs.
- 5Run the engine and check that the air conditioning is on and that the compressor engages.
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the A/C system for leaks, and the compressor and pressure sensor.
Symptoms you may notice2
- The air conditioning does not work
- The front part of the cabin does not get cold enough
