VOLVO
ECM-P147468 - Fan Control Primary Circuit. Algorithm Based Failures. Event information
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
2 modelsS80 (2007–), XC90 (2003–)
Show models by year and engine (2)
What does this fault code mean?
The code is event controlled, which means it is an information code and does not show a fault in the engine control module. It is set when the cooling fan needs to run at very high speed for a long time, for example in queues of traffic when it is very hot. The code clears when the conditions no longer apply and does not need to be erased.
Possible causes
- Very high outside or engine temperature, so that the cooling fan has to run at high speed for a long time, for example in queues of traffic
What you can do
- 1Check that the radiator grille is not blocked by dirt or leaves, as the fan then has to work harder.
- 2Check that the cooling fan starts when the engine gets warm, and that it keeps running for a while after the engine is switched off.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, read the coolant temperature in live data when the engine is warm, and check whether the cooling fan runs as the temperature rises.
- 4If the code comes back even during normal driving, have a workshop check the cooling fan and its control.
Symptoms you may notice1
- The cooling fan does not work
