What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the control of the injection valve for cylinder 2, which the engine control module (ECM) drives through internal output stages. It is set when a fault in the control is detected, and The causes may be contact resistance and corrosion at the connector, or a clogged or leaking valve.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and corrosion in the injection valve connector
- The injection valve is clogged or leaking
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the cylinder 2 injection valve is free from damp and corrosion.
- 2Check that the connector is firmly seated and has no play.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the valve is not shorted to ground (the body).
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the cylinder 2 injection valve and listen for it working.
- 5Cylinder 2 is the second cylinder counted from the right-hand side of the vehicle, with cylinder 1 furthest from the flywheel.
- 6If nothing is found in these checks, the fault may lie in the engine control module, which is a job for a workshop.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
