What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the injection valve for cylinder 4. It is set when the engine control module (ECM) finds a fault in the control of the valve. This may be caused by contact resistance and corrosion at the connector, or by the valve being clogged or leaking.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and corrosion in the injection valve connector
- The injection valve is clogged or leaking
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the cylinder 4 valve is firmly seated and free from damp.
- 2Cylinder 4 is the fourth cylinder counted from the right-hand side of the vehicle, with cylinder 1 furthest from the flywheel.
- 3With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the valve is not shorted to ground (the body).
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the cylinder 4 injection valve and listen for it working.
- 5Check that the cable to the valve is not pinched under a mounting point.
- 6If nothing is found in these checks, the fault may lie in the engine control module, which a workshop should check.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
