What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns the injection valve for cylinder 5 and is set when something is wrong with the engine control module's control of it. The fault may be caused by contact resistance and corrosion at the connector, or by the valve being clogged or leaking.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance and corrosion in the injection valve connector
- The injection valve is clogged or leaking
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to the cylinder 5 valve is firmly seated and has no play.
- 2With the ignition off, use a multimeter to check that the wire to the valve is not shorted to ground (the body).
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the cylinder 5 injection valve and listen for it working.
- 4Cylinder 5 is the fifth cylinder counted from the right-hand side of the vehicle, with cylinder 1 furthest from the flywheel.
- 5Look at the cable to the valve and check whether it is chafed or pinched.
- 6If nothing is found in these checks, the fault may lie in the engine control module, which is a job for a workshop.
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
