What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) tests, among other things, whether the fuel cut-off works. When the driver requests the engine to stop, the engine control module adjusts the fuel pressure and checks that the engine really stops. The code is set when the engine keeps running after such a request.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance or corrosion in the connectors
- Damaged fuel flow control valve
- The cause may be among other fault codes stored in the engine control module
- On diesel models: too high a proportion of diesel in the engine oil
What you can do
- 1Read the fault codes in the engine control module and correct the other fault codes first, since the cause may lie there.
- 2Check the connectors to the fuel flow control valve for looseness, contact resistance and corrosion.
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, activate the fuel flow control valve and check that it responds.
- 4If the oil is suspected of being diluted by diesel, have a workshop check the oil level and the condition of the oil.
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel system.
Symptoms you may notice5
- The engine does not start, is cranked without starting, or stalls straight after starting
- The engine may stall while driving, and this may be noticeable all the time or only now and then
- The check engine lamp lights or behaves abnormally
- Yellow warning symbol and text message in the display
- The engine lacks power or performs poorly
What the fault can affect2
- The engine torque is limited
- The engine is switched off
